PCI compliance and upcoming service changes
As of January 7, 2008, all Scribehost servers are updated and configured to pass PCI compliance scans (as currently run) the on the first scan. Past PCI scans on Scribehost servers, as on many web hosts, turned up a few “false positives” due to installed server software not accurately reporting its compiled version. The company which produces the software used to run our control panels has released a new version that relays such reports accurately, as well as provides additional tools to tweak those services which have caused delays in PCI compliance certification from various merchant account providers.
As part of this upgrade, some services will be changing on our Linux hosting. FrontPage will be supported only on our Windows shared accounts as of January 31, 2009. As we have less than 1% of our Linux-hosting customer base still using FrontPage even on an occasional basis, and as FrontPage support is not well-provided for non-Windows servers, all clients who wish to use FrontPage will be moved over to the equivalent Windows hosting plan.
